I’m nearly there. I crossed 90k last night on Echoes of the Heart, and I’m down to the last chapter or two. I got into a flow last night and got about 4k out in two hours, and it felt really good. I haven’t done that in a long time.

My story follows a psychic/medium who sees ghosts as she falls for a lawyer who is so opposite her it’s hard to see how they could come together. So today I started my morning with my own little tarot card pull from our favorite deck.

At first glance, it didn’t look promising.

The 7 of swords suggests being on the lookout for deceit or betrayal. The fool can mean…well, being foolish. But the connection between the cards (something you look for when doing a reading) is this: The Universe is listening. Today is about intent, and making it clear what it is you want, and being true and honest about that. I like that interpretation, though I admit, I’m not sure what that focus is. What is it I want? I want to finish the book. I want it to be a good one. I was thinking about entering another of my books into a competition with a serious financial prize. I have a feeling it’s that last one. Will I have the courage to do it? Will the universe hear my desire to win, not just for the money, but for the validation that I can write a mainstream book?

We’ll see what today brings, and I’m glad I pulled cards that are making me think.
