Writing a book in spits and starts makes for a jumbled experience.
I’ve been writing Echoes of the Heart for a while now. Normally I can write a first draft in about three months. But we’ve had a lot going on that has required a lot of attention, and for a while I simply lost my desire to write at all. There was no creativity.
But here I am, 80k into the book and about to write my big crisis scene. As you can see, I’ve got a damn good view to inspire me as well, and I think I’ll have the first draft done by the weekend. After that, it’s a listen-draft (we’re away from the office so I can’t print a draft for edits the way I usually would). So I’ll listen to the somewhat awkward Word voice read it to me, and make changes as I hear what needs to be changed.
I wrote a sex scene unlike one I’ve written in a while, and I have to admit it’s nice to still have the ability.
And of course, I’m getting ready for the launch of The Heart Remembers audiobook, which I’m really excited about.
That’s it, really. Just a quick update for those of you who drop by. (And thanks for doing so!)
